Presented by: IPTM - Institute of Police Technology and Management
Location: IPTM / University of North Florida, 12000 Alumni Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32224
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The third in a series of three progressive courses, IPTM’s Hostage Crisis Negotiations–Level III course has been developed to further enhance your negotiation skills while affording the team leader an opportunity to develop or hone the skills necessary to lead a team during complex negotiations.
We will explore the roles of the team leader, including development and management of the team, team operation, and interaction with command and tactical personnel. Methods for creating and implementing a rigorous training day for the agency negotiation team will be examined–from developing ideas and scenarios to the training announcement.
You will gain an in-depth understanding of how rapport and empathy impact the negotiator and the negotiation process. We will also discuss how the growing impact of today’s technology and communication tools–such as social media–can affect negotiations. A presentation by a special operations wounded warrior will help us examine the effects of PTSD and methods of responding to it.
